Privacy Policy
Daylime by zekhoi
Last updated
This policy explains what data Daylime collects, why, who it is shared with, and the choices you have. A mood journal holds personal things, so we collect only what the app needs to work and we do not sell your data.
Effective date: TODO: set to the public release date.
Who we are
Daylime is made by zekhoi, an independent developer. TODO: confirm the developer name exactly as it appears on the Google Play listing, and add a postal address if one is required for your listing.
For anything about this policy or your data, email [email protected].
What we collect
| Data | What it is | Why we collect it |
|---|---|---|
| Account data | Your email address and sign-in details. TODO: list sign-in methods | To create your account and keep your journal in sync |
| Journal entries | The text you write in the app | To store and show your journal |
| Mood data | The moods you log and when you logged them | To show your mood history and trends |
| AI companion messages | What you send to the AI companion and its replies | To provide the AI companion feature |
| Device information | Device model, OS version, app version, language | To keep the app compatible and debug problems |
| Usage analytics | Which screens and features are used. TODO: confirm if collected | To understand what to improve |
| Crash reports | Technical details about crashes. TODO: confirm if collected | To find and fix bugs |
We do not collect your precise location, contacts, photos, or advertising identifiers. TODO: confirm this list matches the permissions the app requests.
How we use your data
We use your data to:
- Run your account and sync your journal across devices.
- Show your entries and mood history back to you.
- Provide the AI companion when you choose to use it.
- Fix bugs, keep the service secure, and understand which features help.
- Reply when you contact support.
We do not sell your data, and we do not use your journal entries for advertising.
The AI companion
When you talk to the AI companion, the message you send and the context needed to answer it (such as the related journal entry or mood) is sent to an AI provider to generate a reply. The companion is only used when you open it. Entries you never share with it are not sent.
- AI provider: TODO: name the provider (for example Anthropic, OpenAI, or Google) and link its privacy policy.
- Training: TODO: confirm whether the provider may use this data to train its models. If the API terms say it does not, state that here.
- Retention by the provider: TODO: state how long the provider keeps prompts and replies.
Third-party services
We use a small number of service providers to run Daylime. They process data only on our behalf and for the purposes below.
| Service | Role | Data involved |
|---|---|---|
| TODO: backend or database | Stores accounts, entries, and mood data | Account data, entries, moods |
| TODO: authentication | Handles sign-in | Account data |
| TODO: AI provider | Generates AI companion replies | AI companion messages |
| TODO: analytics, if used | Measures feature usage | Usage analytics, device info |
| TODO: crash reporting | Collects crash reports | Crash reports, device info |
| Google Play | Distributes the app | Governed by Google’s policies |
Where your data is stored and how long we keep it
Your data is stored on servers in TODO: region or country. If that is outside your country, your data is transferred there under the safeguards the provider offers.
We keep your data while your account exists. When you delete your account, we delete your data as described on the account deletion page.
- Account data, entries, mood data, and AI companion messages: kept until you delete them or your account.
- Backups: TODO: state how long deleted data can remain in backups.
- Device information, analytics, and crash reports: TODO: state the retention period.
- Support emails: TODO: state the retention period.
How we protect your data
- Data is encrypted in transit with TLS.
- TODO: confirm whether data is encrypted at rest, and whether entries are end-to-end encrypted.
- Access to production data is limited to the developer, and only when needed to run the service or answer your request.
No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your data, we will tell you and the relevant authorities as the law requires.
Your rights and choices
You can:
- Access your data in the app at any time.
- Export your entries. TODO: describe where export lives in the app, or remove this line if export is not available.
- Correct or delete individual entries in the app.
- Delete your account and its data, from the app or by email. See Delete your account.
- Stop using the AI companion at any time. Nothing is sent to the AI provider unless you use it.
Depending on where you live, including under Indonesia’s Personal Data Protection Law and the GDPR, you may have more rights, such as objecting to processing or requesting a copy of your data in a portable format. Email us to use any of them. We reply within 30 days.
Children’s privacy
Daylime is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them. TODO: confirm the minimum age (some regions require 16). If you believe a child has created an account, email us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we will also tell you in the app or by email before they take effect.
